Freight transportation is key for hauling goods to a destination on time, safely and in a cost-effective manner. Freight transportation is the physical process of transporting commodities and merchandise goods and cargo, for us that means using our trucks to transport your materials. At Trans-Phos we transport dry, bulk goods for end-to-end hauling and distribution.
Types of Freight
There are several modes of freight transportation including:
- less than truckload
- full truckload
Less than truckload freight transportation is designed for shipments that are larger than a parcel, but not large enough to require the space of a full truckload trailer. Typically, this method is used for shipments under 15,000 pounds.
Full truckload freight transportation involves hauling dry goods that are large enough for the use of an entire semi-trailer, typically more than 15,000 pounds. Full truckloads can be more cost effective for larger job sites or when you require multiple movement of dry goods for construction, hauling, and distributing.
Expedited freight transportation refers to time-sensitive shipments in which freight has to be delivered quickly with our best trucking routes and logistics to get your goods there on schedule.
Freight transportation companies are companies that specialize in the moving (or "forwarding") of freight, or cargo, from one place to another. A freight transportation method is determined by evaluating three factors: time, cost, and product characteristics.
